This is Model 1188, made between 1950 and 1967, with the impressed Beswick England mark and model numbers on the reverse of each bird.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe birds are hand painted in russet, cream and slate blue, with red beaks, dark markings at the neck, barred flanks and golden brown flight feathers. The glaze is glossy and vibrant.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBeswick sold its flying birds in graduated sets, and the three sizes here are how the design was meant to be hung. Hung on a diagonal or in a gentle rise, they give a wall a sense of movement.
