noblett
Noblett Highboy Cabinet in Teak, c. 1960s

E.R. Noblett & Sons built this teak highboy in Adelaide in the 1960s, when the family firm was one of several West Torrens manufacturers making Scandinavian style furniture for South Australian homes. Noblett made dining chairs, tables, sideboards and nesting tables in teak, and its tall storage pieces are popular with buyers of Australian mid century furniture.

The cabinet pairs open shelving with a pair of cupboard doors and a slim pull out shelf. The lower section has a further cupboard door alongside three drawers on sculpted handles.

It is built in teak veneer over timber and stands on tapered, sculpted legs joined by a shaped stretcher, which lifts the tall body off the floor and keeps the cabinet visually light.

At 162 cm high and 120.5 cm wide, but only 42 cm deep, it holds books, glassware, linen and records in a narrow footprint, and it suits a hallway, a dining room or a lounge wall. The open shelves show off ceramics and glass, while the doors and drawers hide everyday things.

Teak veneer needs little care: wipe it with a soft dry cloth and use a light teak oil once a year if the timber looks dry. Noblett storage pieces sit comfortably beside Parker and TH Brown furniture, so this cabinet works in a room of mixed Australian mid century pieces.

Dimensions: 162 cm H x 120.5 cm W x 42 cm D.

Message us to organise an inspection, or to request a video call or more photos.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0800/4416/3106/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_0d13afc3-d65b-4148-b578-a4518a85c974.jpg?v=1789468249
