Set of four Model 4A Windsor Kitchen Chairs by Ercol, presented in their exceptional original condition. Sourced from the "Blue Label" era (1954–1976), these chairs are a testament to the build quality of Lucian Ercolani’s golden age. Unlike many vintage examples that require stripping, these have retained their original factory finish, preserving the authentic charm and patina that only time can create.

 

The Design Icon

Originally born from the wartime "Utility Scheme," the Model 4A is celebrated for its efficiency and strength.

The Silhouette: A compact, six-spindle hoop back that offers a clean, uncluttered profile ideal for modern open-plan living.

The Construction: Features solid English Elm seats with wedged through-tenon joinery — where the legs are driven through the seat and locked with a wedge. This detail is not only visually stunning but ensures the chairs remain rock-solid after 60 years.

The Stamp: These chairs bear the authentic British Standards (B.S. 1960) kite mark and heart motif stamped into the timber, verifying their quality and vintage lineage.

 

Condition 

Restored and in very good vintage condition. They chairs maintain the original lacquer finish possess a warm, deep luster that modern finishes struggle to replicate. Joints are firm with no loose spindles or wobbles.

 

These are true survivors — perfect for the collector who values authenticity over renovation.
