This iconic sideboard represents a cornerstone of Australian Mid-Century Modern design.

It is a quintessential example of the "Danish aesthetic", which combined clean, organic forms with superior functionality, a style prominent in the 1960s, and this piece beautifully embodies the sophisticated, optimistic spirit and high-quality craftsmanship of that era.   

The sideboard is enveloped in a rich, warm-toned teak, with the two cabinet doors a testament to their quality, featuring a stunning "book-matched" teak veneer. This premium manufacturing technique, a mark of fine craftsmanship, involves mirroring two consecutive sheets of veneer to create a perfectly symmetrical, striking grain pattern, giving the impression of an open book.  

The piece floats on a gracefully sculpted base with four solid oak, tapered cigar legs, imparting a sense of lightness and dynamism.   

The most striking and celebrated features are the signature eclipse pulls. These are not simply applied hardware; they are sculptural and recessed forms made from solid teak. This design element, an iconic MCM feature, creates a clean, graphic, and tactile motif that is the epitome of minimalist elegance.   

Functionality is paramount to the design. This versatile, low-profile credenza is perfectly proportioned for use as a dining room buffet, a sophisticated media console, or an elegant entryway statement piece. It offers ample and thoughtfully organised storage. A central bank of three deep, spacious drawers is flanked by two cabinets. The left-hand cabinet opens to reveal a fixed internal shelf, while the right-hand cabinet offers a full-height, open compartment, ideal for taller items, bottle storage, or vinyl records.

This sideboard has been professionally restored. The original teak surfaces have been refinished. This process both protects the wood and enhances its deep, lustrous patina. The sidebaord presents in very good condition, with only minor, authentic wear consistent with its vintage provenance.

Condition: This piece has been professionally restored and refinished with a durable, satin hard wax-oil finish that enhances the natural grain and patina of the wood. Presents in very good condition with minor wear consistent with age and history.
