A masterful expression of mid-century functionalism, this rare extension dining table was designed by Chatley Productions of Preston, Victoria, in the 1960s.

Created for the new, flexible Australian home, this piece elegantly transforms from a handsome daily dining table into a grand entertainer's table capable of seating eight or more guests. 

The table's genius lies in its dual-leaf extension system. Two draw-leaf extensions glide smoothly from each end, expanding the table to its full impressive length of 215cm.

The tabletop is a triumph of mid-century material innovation. It is finished in its original premium high-fidelity laminate, a durable surface that flawlessly captures the deep, warm grain of teak. This surface is meticulously edged in solid teak banding, a signifier of high-quality production that ensures durability and a seamless aesthetic connection to the solid wood base. This advanced material is the reason for the table's excellent condition; it is free from the water rings, heat marks, and fading that typically mar vintage veneer tables, making it perfectly suited for modern-day use.

The sleek, minimalist tabletop is supported by a solid timber frame and four gracefully tapered, solid cigar legs. This cohesive design language, rooted in Scandinavian principles but executed with a distinctly Australian sensibility, makes it a timeless and versatile centerpiece for any dining room.

Manufacturer: Chatley Productions

Origin: Preston, Victoria, Australia. Circa 1960s

Materials: High-Fidelity Laminate, Solid timber banding, frame, and legs.

Condition: Restored and in very good vintage condition, consistent with age and history. Surface is remarkably clean with no significant marks, chips, or fading. The extension mechanism works smoothly. The HFL top is exceptionally well-preserved. Minor marks to legs commensurate with age.
