Johannes Andersen Dining Table in Teak for TH Brown | c. 1961
An exceptional example of Danish Modern design, this expanding dining table was designed by Johannes Andersen and manufactured under licence by TH Brown, c1961.
The table is characterised by Andersen's signature "soft line" approach to joinery; the solid teak legs blend seamlessly into the table's apron, creating a fluid, sculptural silhouette that softens the rectangular form. The tabletop features a vibrant, warm teak grain with beveled edges that maintain a slim profile.
Functionality is seamless via the 'Dutch' draw-leaf mechanism. Two extension leaves are stored beneath the main top and slide out effortlessly to accommodate larger gatherings, extending the table length.
This piece has been professionally restored in our Torquay studio. The surface has been treated with a premium hardwax oil (Oli Natura) to enhance the depth of the grain while providing a durable, matte satin finish. It is in excellent vintage condition, retaining minor signs of wear consistent with age and history, which adds to its character.
