Art Deco Egyptian Dancer in Cast Bronze, 54cm
Description
Demetre Chiparus captured the Egyptomania that followed the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 in his Egyptian Dancer figure, and this bronze is a reproduction of that design.
It is cast in solid, hot cast bronze rather than lightweight resin, and at 4.2 kg it has genuine weight in the hand and on the shelf.
The figure keeps the textured, jewelled bodysuit and dynamic pose that characterise Chiparus's originals, and the surface carries a deep, natural bronze patina.
It is in excellent vintage condition.
Dimensions: 54 cm H. Weight: 4.2 kg. Its dark patina and strong outline sit well against warm timber, so a teak sideboard or a plain wall makes a natural setting. At 54 cm it needs a sideboard, console or plinth of its own, with space around it to show the pose.
