European Joiner's Workbench Console Table in Oak, c. 1900

Description

Anchored by a heavy timber vice at one end, this joiner's workbench was built in Europe in the early twentieth century from solid oak.

Its interlocking trestle base and thick worktop carry the marks of a working life, a genuine industrial patina rather than anything applied afterward. At two metres long, it has enough presence and surface to work as a console table in an entryway, a server in a dining room, or an island bench in a kitchen.

Good antique condition. Wear is heavy and consistent with a century of use, which is part of its character rather than a flaw. Structurally sound, cleaned and waxed to protect the finish.

Height 80 cm, width 200 cm, depth 71 cm. A genuine piece of European industrial history, ready for a second life.
