Description
This table pairs a vintage Eames contract base for Herman Miller, dating to the 1960s, with a custom Italian travertine top made in November 2004, imported from a Los Angeles collection.
The base carries the black steel column and four-star polished aluminium legs typical of the Eames contract range from the period. The travertine top was custom cut with a Platner edge, a bevelled stone profile associated with high-end mid-century design. Within the stone is the fossil of a bivalve mollusc, sliced cleanly enough during preparation to reveal a heart-shaped cross-section, a genuine result of how the stone happened to be cut rather than anything added afterwards.
Very good condition, with only a few small marks or scuffs. Chairs not included.
Dimensions: 130cm diameter, 73cm high.
