Fred Lowen for Fler 'Fleronde' Swivel Armchair in Tartan Wool, c. 1964
Description
Fred Lowen designed the Fleronde for Fler around 1964, during a sabbatical in Stuttgart that pushed his work away from timber frames toward European, Bauhaus-influenced moulded shells. The design remains in the National Gallery of Victoria's permanent collection.
This example retains its original Scottish tartan wool and black vinyl, showing honest patina and light marks consistent with age. The foam has been fully replaced with new high-density foam, including contoured support at the headrest, and the chrome swivel base has been serviced for smooth rotation.
Restored and in excellent vintage condition. The original tartan wool has been professionally dry cleaned and remains vibrant.
Height 90 cm, width 74 cm, depth 72 cm. Seat width 59 cm, seat depth 60 cm.
