Description

Florence Knoll designed the Model 2480 oval table while leading the Knoll Planning Unit, the in-house design studio she built to furnish corporate interiors across postwar America for clients including CBS and IBM. She was famously pragmatic about her own designs, describing many of them as pieces she made only because nothing suitable already existed for the job at hand. This oval table, sized to work as an executive desk, a conference table or a dining table, is one of those solutions that outgrew its original brief and went into full production.

Most surviving examples were finished in walnut. This one carries the rarer oak veneer, a lighter and more contemporary reading of the same form, with a bevelled top edge that keeps the substantial surface visually light above the four-star chrome pedestal base. The underside still carries Knoll's original factory-applied balancer, a period engineering detail used to keep large veneered tops from warping over decades.

Professionally restored and refinished to a showroom standard. Excellent condition, ready for immediate use.
