Superfine 0000 Steel Wool

When applying hard surface finishes like our Carnauba and Beeswax Polish to restored timber, using superfine steel wool helps achieve a perfectly smooth and even result. This 40g pack of mild 0000 grade steel wool is the ideal tool for working wax gently but firmly into the grain of your mid-century pieces.

Using steel wool for application ensures the wax penetrates properly while very lightly polishing the surface at the same time, giving you a brilliant foundation for a high gloss finish.

How to Apply with Carnauba Polish

• Ensure your timber has already been oiled or waxed, as this polish is a final top coat and not suitable for raw timber.

• Tear off a small pad of the 0000 steel wool and dip it directly into the tin to gather a small amount of wax.

• Rub the polish into the timber using firm pressure, making sure to always work in line with the grain.

• Let the polish rest for 20 to 30 minutes, then buff vigorously with a soft polishing cloth to reveal a beautiful, hard sheen.

• For an even deeper gloss, you can apply up to three coats, leaving plenty of drying time in between.
