Guardian Textile Protector for Upholstery Fabric, 500 ml

A newly upholstered chair is at its best the day it comes home. The wool is crisp, the colour is even from seam to seam, and nothing has been spilt on it yet. Textile Protector helps it stay that way for longer.

Made in Denmark by Guardian, it is a water based trigger spray that leaves an invisible layer of protection on upholstery fabric without changing its natural properties, appearance or breathability. A spill is more likely to sit on the surface long enough to be blotted away, rather than soaking straight into the weave.

Why use it

Upholstery fabric soaks up spills quickly, and once coffee, red wine or oil works into the weave it is hard to shift. A protector buys you time. Applied to new or freshly cleaned fabric, it makes everyday marks easier to deal with and helps a newly upholstered piece keep the look it had on the day it arrived.

What it is for

Upholstery fabric on chairs, sofas, lounges and cushions, indoors or outdoors. Guardian rates it for all types of textile. Apply it to new or freshly cleaned fabric. For leather, use a leather care product instead.

Before you start

Test on a hidden area first, such as the back or underside of a cushion, and let it dry fully so you can check the colour and feel of the fabric.

How to use it

1. Make sure the fabric is clean and completely dry.
2. Spray from about 25 cm away, so the fabric is evenly wet.
3. Treat whole panels and cushions rather than patches.
4. Leave it to dry for about four hours at room temperature. The protection reaches full effect after 24 hours.
5. If pale marks appear as it dries, brush them away with a well wrung cloth.

How often

Reapply after a deep clean, and whenever spills start to soak in rather than sitting on the surface.
