Oiva Toikka for Iittala 'Sieppo' Glass Bird, c. 1972
Description
Mouth blown and hand signed on the base, this Sieppo, or flycatcher, is an authentic piece from Oiva Toikka's Birds by Toikka series for Iittala.
Toikka first designed the series in 1972, and each bird produced since has been an individual, mouth blown piece rather than a mould-cast repeat, meaning no two are exactly alike. This example carries a rich red body with a green head, made by Iittala's glassblowers in Finland. The series has been in continuous production for over fifty years and remains one of the most collected names in Scandinavian glass.
Excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks.
Length 9 cm, height 6 cm. A genuine collector's piece, small enough to sit anywhere in a home.
