Vintage 1970s Brutalist Cylinder Lamp – Heavy Gauge Steel & Original Blue Glaze

A striking example of 1970s industrial design, this heavy-gauge steel table lamp is a genuine vintage discovery.

Constructed from a repurposed diving cylinder during the mid-century era, it retains its original, spectacular textured finish. The deep cobalt blue glazing evokes the "Fat Lava" ceramics of the period but with the substantial weight and presence of Brutalist sculpture.

Unlike modern reproductions, this piece is authentic to the 1970s. The unique "Ocean Blue" textured glaze is original to the lamp’s initial production, preserved in excellent vintage condition. The combination of the heavy industrial steel body and the artistic glazing creates a rare and collectible aesthetic that bridges the gap between raw industrialism and mid-century art pottery.

Restoration & Condition

While the aesthetic is untouched, the functionality has been professionally updated by Fox & Wedge to meet modern standards:

Electrical: Completely rewired with a new lead and fully safety tested (Test & Tagged).

Shade: Paired with a brand-new, high-quality grey fabric drum shade that complements the cool tones of the original steel.

Fittings: Fitted with a standard B22 (Bayonet) bulb holder.
