Traditional geometric woven rug with black, red, beige, and brown patterns displayed against a white wall

Vintage Nomadic Qashqai Geometric Kilim Rug

$0.00 AUD

Add a striking layer of tribal history to your space with this authentic Qashqai Kilim.

Hand-woven by nomadic tribes in the Zagros Mountains of southwest Iran, this flatweave rug is a testament to bold, instinctive design.

The rug features a series of concentric, latch-hook diamond medallions — a classic Qashqai motif believed to represent protection. The colour palette is distinctively earthy and warm, combining deep chocolate browns and rust reds with a vibrant ochre/mustard yellow that provides a stunning contrast.

Nomadic Kilims display a beautiful abrash — natural variations in the dye tones resulting from the weaver using small batches of hand-dyed wool, particularly visible in the ochre and brown fields— which is a celebrated characteristic of genuine nomadic weaving and adds wonderful depth to the colour palette.

As a flatweave (Kilim), this piece has no pile, making it durable and versatile. Its nearly square dimensions (130 x 120 cm) make it an incredibly useful size for difficult spaces: it works perfectly in an entryway, under a small coffee table, layered over a larger sisal rug, or even mounted on the wall as a textile art piece. It brings an instant sense of warmth and texture to Mid-Century Modern, Bohemian, or contemporary interiors.
