Tessa ‘Monaco’ 2-Seater Sofa in Black Leather – Designed by Fred Lowen
A celebrated icon of Australian Mid-Century Modern design, the 'Monaco' series was designed by Fred Lowen for Tessa Furniture in the 1970s.
This two-seater sofa perfectly embodies Lowen's philosophy of combining lightweight, sculptural frames with exceptional comfort.
The frame is crafted from curved Victorian Ash veneer with solid timber rails, featuring the signature Tessa canvas sling support system. This distinctive hammock style construction not only creates a visually light, floating profile but provides superior ergonomic support.
The sofa is upholstered in deep black full-grain leather, which contrasts beautifully against the warm, golden tones of the timber frame. The leather is soft, supple, and presents in excellent condition with no rips or tears.
Professionally restored and detailed by Fox & Wedge Vintage. The leather is in excellent condition, and has been conditioned and is free of cracks or damage. The canvas sling is taut and supportive, with only minor marks from canvas wax. The timber frame is structurally solid and stable with glowing joinery.

Why We Love It
The Monaco is often considered one of Tessa's most comfortable designs. Its compact two-seater footprint makes it perfect for apartment living or as a complementary piece in a larger mid-century modern lounge setting.
