Vintage Geometric Kilim Runner in Wool

Rows of hooked diamonds in grey, ochre, pink and deep brown run down the rose red field of this old wool kilim runner, held within a dark border band and a broad cream border of larger hooked motifs.

Flatwoven rather than knotted, it has no pile and lies thin and close to the floor, and its colours have mellowed with age into a warm mix of rose, cream and aubergine.

A semi antique runner, it shows its age in places: a few motifs in the field have faded or lost colour, there is a small area of damage near one side edge, and the fringe is worn.

Run it down a hallway of timber boards, or lay it at the foot of a bed beside a teak chest, with the rose and cream set against a plain white wall.
