Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell Componibili Three Tier Storage Unit in Gold

$489.00 AUD
Description

Anna Castelli Ferrieri designed the Componibili for Kartell in 1967, and this three tier unit is finished in metallic gold, a mirror bright version of the round modular storage she first produced in solid coloured plastic.

Castelli Ferrieri trained as an architect in Milan and founded Kartell with her husband, Giulio Castelli, in 1949. The Componibili was her answer to storage in a small room. Each round module stacks on the one below without screws or tools, and each door slides around the curve of the body rather than swinging out, so it opens in a tight space. A round finger hole in each door is the only handle. In the metallic finishes, Kartell supplies the Componibili as a fixed unit of two, three or four modules, and this is the three module version.

The unit is in excellent condition. The underside of the base is moulded with the Kartell name, Anna Castelli's name and "made in Italy", so its origin is easy to check.

Dimensions: 32 cm in diameter and 58.5 cm high. Three compartments sit behind sliding doors, and the top takes a lamp, a glass or a stack of books, so it works as a bedside table, a bathroom cabinet or a small table beside a sofa.
