Bamboo Polishing Cloths for Timber and Leather Care, Pack of Two

Soft bamboo fibre, cut to 26 by 26 cm, makes up the cloths we use in the studio to apply and buff furniture wax, timber oil and leather balm, and they come here as a pack of two.

Most furniture care is a two cloth job. With wax, use one cloth to work a thin coat into the grain, leave it until it hazes over, then buff with the second cloth until the surface feels smooth rather than tacky. With an oil or a polish, put a few drops on one cloth and wipe it along the grain, then turn to the second, dry cloth and wipe away anything left sitting on top. Bamboo fibre is soft enough that it will not scratch a polished finish, and it holds a little wax or oil without soaking it all up. The cloths suit wood soap and leather balm just as well.

Safety: cloths used with drying oils such as linseed or tung oil can heat up and catch fire on their own as the oil dries. Lay used cloths flat outdoors until fully dry before washing them, or keep them in a sealed metal container of water.

Care: wash in warm, soapy water and dry flat. Natural fibres shrink a little after the first wash, which does not change how the cloths work.
