$6,995.00 AUD
Description

A rare example of Australian mid-century furniture design, the Dario Zoureff Four Seat Sofa from the 1960s showcases exceptional craftsmanship, unique proportions, and beautiful natural materials. Unlike the more common two and three-seat versions, this four-seat configuration represents one of the rarer examples of Zoureff’s sofa designs.

Built in Melbourne with signature blackbean timber wishbone legs and base detailing, this sofa has been fully restored while preserving its original character. The frame has been professionally refinished, the springs serviced, and the sofa reupholstered in Casamance velvet with a rich rust brown finish inspired by aged leather.

A Rare Dario Zoureff Australian Mid-Century Sofa

Dario Zoureff was one of Melbourne’s most respected custom furniture makers during the 1950s to 1970s. Influenced by European craftsmanship and Australian materials, his furniture was known for thoughtful construction, quality timber selection, and designs created around individual commissions rather than mass production.

This four-seat sofa is a rare example of Zoureff’s work, featuring his distinctive use of blackbean timber, also known as Moreton Bay chestnut. The warm reddish tones and dramatic grain patterns are visible throughout the wishbone legs and timber detailing, creating a piece with strong visual character.

The sofa has undergone a complete restoration process, including spring servicing, timber refinishing using Oli Natura, and professional reupholstery in premium Casamance velvet. Combining comfort, history, and craftsmanship, this piece represents the best of Australian mid-century furniture design.
