Description
Designed by Peter Draenert in 1968, the Klassik 1022 is widely regarded as the first frameless table in modern design history. A proprietary clamp system lets the glass span between the chrome steel runners without a supporting frame beneath it, creating the floating look that became a hallmark of the Space Age and High Tech design movements.
This example features the thicker 20mm glass. Draenert's furniture more broadly is held in major museum collections, including an armchair at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a cabinet at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Very good vintage condition. The chrome frame is bright, with only light signs of use. The glass has recently been professionally refinished, with polished edges on both sides, and is free from major chips or scratches.
