Erik Buch for Findahls Møbelfabrik Teak Dining Chair, c. 1960

$900.00 AUD
Description

Erik Buch designed this dining chair for Findahls Møbelfabrik in Denmark around 1960. The seat is its defining feature, set within a frame of sculpted, organic curves in teak so that it appears to float.

The form does the work here. There is no ornament, only curved timber and a seat set precisely within it, which is characteristic of Danish design from this decade. Against a plain table, the outline of the chair is what draws the eye.

The frame has been restored and finished in hardwax oil. The oil brings out the colour of the teak and leaves a matte surface that copes well with daily dining and is easy to touch up if a mark appears. The seat has been reupholstered in a textured grey fabric, a neutral tone that sits quietly against the warm timber, so the chair is fresh, clean and ready for daily use.

Condition is excellent, restored in the Fox & Wedge workshop and ready for a new home. Dimensions: 80 cm H x 49 cm W x 51 cm D, with a seat height of 46 cm that suits a standard dining table.
