Description
Carnauba and Beeswax Polish
When you want to add a beautiful, hard-wearing sheen to your restored mid-century furniture, this Carnauba Polish is the perfect final touch.
Rich in both carnauba wax and beeswax, it is a fast-drying surface finish that is incredibly soft and easy to apply at home. Once buffed, it hardens quickly to impart a brilliant, protective high gloss. It is designed as a final surface finish and is ideal for timber pieces that have already been oiled or waxed.
Preparation and Application
-
Ensure your furniture is clean and completely dry before you begin.
-
Please note that this is not suitable for raw timber. It must be applied over a previously oiled or waxed finish.
-
Choosing your applicator: You can apply this wax using either a natural bamboo cloth or 0000 superfine steel wool. Use a small pad of steel wool to firmly massage the polish in line with the grain if the timber needs a very mild smoothing as you work. If the timber surface is already perfectly smooth, simply use a clean bamboo cloth to spread the wax sparingly in a circular motion.
-
We recommend working in small sections of no more than one square metre at a time.
-
Buffing the finish: Whether you applied the wax with steel wool or a cloth, always use a separate, clean bamboo cloth to buff the surface vigorously. This removes the excess wax and reveals the sheen.
-
You can apply up to three coats for a higher shine, allowing 20 to 30 minutes of drying time between each application.
Maintenance and Clean Up:
If the waxed area becomes dull over time with heavy wear, simply reapply to restore the finish. Wash your hands and bamboo cloths in warm, soapy water. If you ever need to remove excess wax from your timber, just dampen a cloth with a natural citrus solvent or mineral turpentine.
