L. E. Tan Loe 'Flower Boats' Oil on Board, Framed, c. 1990s

$395.00 AUD
Description

Market boats crowded with figures in conical hats fill the lower half of "Flower Boats", an oil on board painted around the 1990s by the Vietnamese artist L. E. Tan Loe (born 1965), with terraced hills rising behind in soft greens, blues and ochre. The work is signed lower right.

The paint is laid on in broad, thick strokes, so the figures and boats read as blocks of colour rather than fine detail. Up close the surface has real texture. From across a room the scene comes together as a busy river market.

It is presented in a slim gold frame with a cream mat and a fine blue inner border, ready to hang.

Condition: Excellent. Dimensions: 52 x 37 cm.
