Description

Rebuilt from the frame up, this lounge chair pairs a satin black steel rod frame with solid timber armrests refinished in traditional shellac.

The steel has been cleaned, hand waxed and sealed to prevent oxidation, keeping its original satin black finish rather than replacing it. The timber armrests were refinished by hand with shellac rather than a modern spray lacquer, a slower process that brings out more depth and a warmer, silkier feel in the wood. The chair has been reupholstered in a heavy weave teal fabric, chosen to sit well against both the black steel and the warm timber.

Excellent restored condition. Frame is structurally sound and wax protected, timber arms are freshly shellacked, and the upholstery is entirely new.

700 mm wide, 720 mm deep, 740 mm high, with a seat height of 390 mm. Based in Torquay, with freight available Australia-wide.
