Norman Archibald for Nore Sideboard in Alpine Ash, c. 1978
Description
Norman Archibald designed this sideboard for Nore Furniture, the Bayswater, Victoria manufacturer he founded in the early 1970s. Nore's work holds a genuine place in Australian design history; the National Gallery of Victoria holds a Nore lounge chair and ottoman in its permanent collection, and pieces from the range are increasingly hard to find in good original condition.
Handcrafted in Melbourne from solid Victorian Alpine Ash, the sideboard is built around three push-to-open doors concealing adjustable tinted glass shelving, with three felt-lined drawers joined with traditional dovetails. All fittings and hinges sit hidden within the design, and the piece retains its original factory acrylic finish.
This is a one-owner piece, professionally restored and in outstanding condition. The original catalogue is included.
Dimensions: 183cm long, 43cm deep, 79cm high.
