Description
Sami Kallio designed the In Between collection for &Tradition in 2017, and this bar height stool in black oak carries the collection's crescent shaped back and armrest. Kallio was born in Helsinki in 1975 and works from Gothenburg, Sweden. In Between began as a single chair and grew into a series of chairs, stools and tables.
The legs and armrest are turned from solid oak, and the seat and side panels are formpressed from oak veneer, a mix of traditional woodworking and compression moulding. The name comes from the gaps in the crescent shaped back and armrest, where the shape of the wood and the space between it both count.
This stool stands 100 cm high to the top of the backrest, about 10 cm taller than our oak counter stools, which puts it at bar height and suits a high island or a bar table. A brace between the legs works as a footrest and keeps the stool stable, and the armrest curves round the sitter for support. The black oak gives it a strong, graphic look against a pale wall, and the cowhide adds texture.
Ex showroom condition, restored and in excellent condition. One stool is available, and we also have an In Between counter stool in oak.
Please note: Leather cushioned seat sold separately.
Dimensions: 58 cm W x 54 cm D x 100 cm H to the top of the backrest. The bar height seat sits about 75 cm from the floor.
