A definitive piece of Dutch industrial design, the Galvanitas S22 (also produced under the brand Thur-Op-Seat) is celebrated for its distinctive "Compass" or "Pyramid" leg profile.

​Designed in the 1960s as a modern alternative to tubular steel furniture, the S22 features a frame made from folded sheet steel— a technique that gives the chair its incredible strength and sleek, architectural lines reminiscent of French designs by Jean Prouvé.

The seat shell is crafted from Pagholz (Pagwood), a West German innovation where wood veneers are injected with resin under high pressure. This creates a surface that retains the beauty of wood grain but is virtually indestructible, scratch-resistant, and flexible for ergonomic comfort.

​This specific example features the desirable Black steel frame with a rich, mahogany-tone shell. The rear of the seat bears the embossed "Thur-Op-Seat" logo (the trade name used by the Thuring family, founders of Galvanitas).

Excellent vintage condition. The Pagholz shell is vibrant with no chips or cracks. The steel frame is structurally sound with minor age-appropriate patina, adding to its industrial character.
