Description
Shin Azumi designed the Nara collection for Fredericia in 2010, and this bar stool carries its most recognisable feature: a backrest that forks into two upward horns. Azumi took the name from Nara, the Japanese city known for its free roaming, sacred deer, and the horns are the reference.
The design began with a simple aim: minimal structure and maximum comfort. Azumi first defined the top edge and vertical supports of the backrest to give the best support, then removed every part that was not needed. The horns that remain are a natural place to hang a jacket or bag.
The stool is solid oak with a timber seat, so there is no upholstery to wear, and a lacquered finish that keeps the grain of the oak clear. A foot rail links the legs, and the open frame beneath the seat keeps the stool light to look at.
Fredericia is a Danish design house, and the Nara series pays homage to traditional Scandinavian timber furniture while creating a shape of its own.
Ex showroom condition, excellent. One stool is available.
Dimensions: width 49.5 cm, depth 53 cm. The Nara bar stool is made in two heights: 83 cm overall with a 66 cm seat, which suits a kitchen counter, and 92.5 cm overall with a 75 cm seat, which suits a bar or a high island.
