1970s Australian Mid-Century Three-Piece Suite in Striped Velvet

1970s Australian Mid-Century Three-Piece Suite in Striped Velvet

$0.00 AUD

A gorgeous example of 1970s Australian lounge design, this three-piece suite offers a bold aesthetic paired with the high-end upholstery standards of the era. Comprising a two-seat sofa and two matching armchairs, the set is defined by its vertical striped velvet in a sophisticated palette of earthy ochre tones.

While unlabelled, the exceptional build quality, weighted frame, and specific design language are highly indicative of Moran, one of Australia’s premier furniture makers during the mid-to-late 20th century.

The suite features a classic low-profile silhouette with rolled arms and a subtle camelback curve. Each piece is set on original castors, allowing for easy placement and movement within a space. The base is finished with a deep, tonal bullion fringe that grounds the design.

The cushions feature original duck-down and feather-filled cushions, providing a soft, luxurious sit that modern foam-filled alternatives cannot replicate.

The velvet upholstery remains in excellent vintage condition. It has been meticulously cared for over the decades, showing only very minor signs of age consistent with very light use. The pile is lush, and the colours remain vibrant, with no significant wear, balding, or staining to note. The sofa has been steam cleaned.
