This striking sculptural piece is an original Ellis Pottery lamp base, produced in Australia during the late 1960s or early 1970s. It features the iconic crater block form, a brutalist-inspired design with deeply recessed circular panels.

The glaze is a sophisticated mix of high-gloss gold bronze-lustre and a textured, lava-style drip glaze that provides incredible depth and character. This specific design is a wonderful local interpretation of the European brutalist movement, often compared to the iconic Facette series by Cari Zalloni.
