Planet Lighting 'Studio K' Floor Lamp in Black, c. 1970

$450.00 AUD
Description

William Iggulden designed the Studio K for Planet Lighting in 1962, and this floor lamp uses a friction hinge system instead of springs or counterweights.

The friction hinge lets the arm float into position and hold there without a visible mechanism, so the lamp reads as a slim, linear form: a long, jointed arm that reaches out from a weighted base and ends in a small, conical head. The base is weighted for stability at full extension.

Excellent vintage condition, with very minor surface wear to the paintwork. The switch is crisp and the arm holds its position perfectly. Tested, tagged and ready for Australian use.

Dimensions: 24 cm W x 172 cm H x 14 cm D. A floor lamp of this height suits a reading corner beside an armchair, a desk in a study or a hallway, and the slim profile takes little floor space. The black finish gives the lamp a strong, graphic outline against a pale wall.

Wipe the arm and head with a soft dry cloth.
